New Navigation, Community Page, and Past Events — What We Shipped Today

New Navigation, Community Page, and Past Events

Today was a productive day for 02Ship. We shipped three PRs that make the site easier to navigate and give our community a proper home. Here's what changed and why.

Cleaner Navigation

The old header had six flat links competing for attention. We trimmed it to four: Courses, Services, Events, and About — with About opening a dropdown to Our Story, AI Daily News, Blog, and Community.

On mobile, we replaced the cramped link list with a proper hamburger menu — a slide-out panel with Escape-to-close, focus trapping, and scroll lock. Small details that make the experience feel right.

The footer got the same treatment: four columns down to three, with cleaner grouping.

A Real Community Page

Previously, the "Join Community" button on the homepage linked straight to Discord. That worked, but it was a dead end — one channel, take it or leave it.

Now we have a dedicated /community page that brings together all the ways to connect with us:

  • X (Twitter) — follow along and join the conversation
  • GitHub — browse the code, open issues, start discussions
  • Discord — real-time chat with other builders

One page, three doors. Meet us wherever you're most comfortable.

Past Events from Luma

The /events page used to show only what's coming up. Now it also pulls in past events from our Luma calendar automatically — event name, location, and date, with links back to the original Luma pages.

This happens at build time with daily revalidation, so the list stays current without any manual updates. No new dependencies — just a fetch call to the Luma API.

Wiring It Together

The final piece: we updated the homepage hero so the "Join Community" button points to /community instead of an external Discord link. Now visitors land on our page first, see all the options, and choose their path.

Three PRs, one coherent improvement: easier navigation → dedicated community hub → automatic event history.
